When I told my husband a few years ago that I wanted to start a blog about teaching piano, he asked if he could have a “code name.” You’d have to understand the man: he is jovial, has an indomitable and happy spirit, and jokes about everything. He decided to call himself “Luda.” He thought it would be a funny play on words: I’m a classical music teacher, which means I know,  love, and teach Ludwig Van Beethoven; we also had at the time a whole slew of teenagers in our family, so we’re somewhat familiar with rappers like Ludacris. While neither of us particularly like rap music, nor do we even necessarily classify it as music, he does like to make the kids laugh by doing his best rapper imitation. I have to admit, it’s pretty funny. He broke into rap once in the grocery store, with our three teenage daughters in tow, and we were all doubled over laughing at him.

I think Beethoven himself would appreciate that kind of humor.
